At a glance
Independently designed and deployed in under one month; 3 examinations completed and 5 additional examinations created and scheduled as of October 22, 2026.
The challenge
A legacy Microsoft Access examination application stopped functioning, disrupting the established process for administering operator examinations.
My role & decisions
I chose to develop a replacement rather than continue investing in the failed application. I owned initial solution design, development, workflow implementation, and deployment.
The solution
The platform supports examination creation and reuse; pre-assignment review; random question selection from chosen pools; configurable section weighting totaling 100%; assignment notifications; emailed scores and reviews for operators; detailed result emails for supervisors and managers; historical records; reports; and an audit log. Built with Node.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Tauri, Prisma, and PostgreSQL. Authentication currently uses NextAuth/Auth.js.
Verified progress & results
The application is in production. Three examinations have been completed, with five more created and scheduled. These figures describe examinations, not unique users.
What's next
SOP management integration is in development, including links between SOPs and questions and supervisor-facing record management. SOP status controls and printing are planned. Microsoft Entra ID authentication integration is planned.
What this work demonstrates
This project illustrates my approach to identifying operational needs, making pragmatic architectural and delivery decisions, and connecting software capabilities to business workflows.
